California has gotten a lot of rain this winter. Does that mean the drought is over? Not exactly.
California has been in a drought for a few years now. That means both reservoirs and groundwater have been depleted. Even though some areas in California have seen up to four times more rain than normal, it has not been enough to replenish the reservoirs and groundwater. However, things are looking up; at this time last year all of California was in a drought compared to today where 35.56% of California is drought free. California will need a few more seasons of rainy weather to be completely drought free. Living in California it is always best to conserve water when possible, so maybe the next dry spell won’t be so detrimental.
