For many years California has been trying to come up with a solution for its droughts. Now California is turning toward other options for their water supply. Starting in 2016 San Diego county residents will be getting 50 million gallons of water per day from a new desalination plant. That will be enough to provide water for 300,000 people. This plant will create many jobs and distribute $50 million in annual spending throughout the region. Right now there are 15 proposed desalination plants along California’s coast. As the desalination technology keeps getting better we will start seeing more of these plants being used as water sources.
